heather bates, fnp-bc

Heather Bates, FNP-BC, recently relocated to the Columbia River Gorge in June 2022 from Taos, NM with her husband Jeff and their dog Osita. In pursuit of her passion for functional medicine, Heather accepted a position at Healthy Connections in Hood River, Oregon as a family nurse practitioner specializing in functional medicine and women’s health. As a family nurse practitioner, she has developed a holistic approach to her practice with a strong belief in the importance of listening to the body to determine the root cause of illness and practicing prevention through lifestyle choices. This belief system became particularly important when Heather was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Through the use of various integrative medicine modalities including nutrition, meditation and herbal medicine in combination with allopathic treatment, she was successful in treating my cancer. To this day, Heather considers cancer a gift and the pivotal moment that she decided to pursue training in functional medicine to bring it more fully into her medical practice. During these turbulent times when women’s health care is being compromised more than ever, Heather has made it her heart felt mission to be the advocate and safe space of communication for her patients. Heather understands that knowledge about our own bodies will facilitate good health and create a sense of empowerment. Heather is honored and excited to become a part of this community, to share her knowledge and love of helping others.
