Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) are a series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Dr. David Berceli developed TRE in the late 1980s while researching how trauma occurs in the human organism. Regardless of how trauma is experiences, trauma expresses itself in the body. Those experiences are stored in the body until they find a way to be released. Most exercises are designed to release surface level tension. TRE, although simple and painless, are specifically designed to release the deep chronic muscular contractions created by trauma. TRE employs the natural mechanisms of the body to dissolve chronic tension.

TRE reminds our bodies of the natural, intuitive, instinctual, powerful, and deeply healing response we all possess. All we need to do is let go, and give it permission.
Learn how you can use your body’s innate wisdom to shift your mindset. These simple, yet powerful physical practices can have an immediate, and lasting effect on your mindset, wellbeing, and overall health by settling, and re-wiring your nervous system.
This class combines yoga asana and pranayama with the body’s natural, therapeutic shaking response. This shaking response in humans is the nervous system’s way of discharging long-held tension and trauma, or unconscious muscle contraction in order to restore the body to wholeness. These neurogenic tremors increase the resiliency of the body because they cause deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels and muscle contraction. These vibrations can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses, or traumas from accidents. Additionally, tremoring has been reported to reduce and eliminate pain, increases mobility, and aid healing of recent and past injuries.
When in a group, our nervous systems connect to each other and regulate towards each other. Our bodies and brain waves synchronize to reach a state of resonance. This enables us to feel grounded and gives our body a sense of connection with the energy fields around us. Using TRE® to expand our awareness of how our systems emerge and establish, these group classes will be a deep but playful path of self-discovery and self-acceptance. Participant numbers are limited to ensure an intimacy to the teaching.
